I love contests! Both of the listings below have FREE submissions with the chance of winning money or publication. The Great American Think-Off garners submissions from all over the United States! If your work is selected by the Lake Region Review, you will be able to show off your talents in a quality anthology. Please write something and submit. The Great American Think-Off
The deadline for submissions to the Great American Think-Off approaches. This year’s topic: “Which is more ethical: sticking to your principles or being willing to compromise?” How relevant is that? Write an essay of 750 words and win one of four $500 prizes. That’s sixty-six cents a word, better than the New Yorker. See think-off.com for details. Deadline is April 1.
Call for Submissions Lake Region Review No. 3 (A publication of the Lake Region Writers Network)
We Seek: Quality fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry by writers in Minnesota and the eastern Dakotas, especially from those with a personal connection to this region. Your submission does not need to be grounded in this region, though we admit a fondness for seeing it represented in creative and engaging work. Your submission must not have been previously published and must not be simultaneously submitted elsewhere. Deadline: June 1, 2013
You may submit in more than one category.
- Poems – Up to three poems, no more than one per 8 1/2 x 11 page.
- Fiction – One story up to 3,000 words.
- Nonfiction – Memoir, essay, travel – One entry up to 2,000 words.
